Noryangjin Christian Assembly: A Brief Introduction

Noryangjin Christian Assembly is a gathering of believers who have been born again as children of God. As a local assembly, we strive to serve the Lord according to the New Testament truths. It is the first assembly of its kind in Korea, where we gather in a common, precious faith and prefer the name "Christian Assembly" over the term "Church."

Our Vision and Roots We seek to inherit and practice the pure faith of the early church as depicted in the Book of Acts and the Apostolic Epistles. Our fellowship is part of the global Brethren Movement, which emerged in the 1820s when believers began to return to the simple, biblical foundations of the early church, moving away from human traditions and formalities.

Our History in Korea Our assembly began in 1962 through the ministry of Edwin Arthur James, an Austrian-born British missionary who had long served the Lord in the UK, arrived in Korea along with a small group of young Korean believers who had come to know Christ. Since our modest beginnings in Seoul, we have been blessed to help pioneer over 230 assemblies across Korea and have supported missionary work in 15 countries worldwide.

Our Core Values

• Christ-Centered Fellowship: We gather solely in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. We do not use denominational names, as we believe the body of Christ is not divided.

• Biblical Worship: We prioritize the "breaking of bread" (the Lord's Supper) and the study of the Word. We believe in the "priesthood of all believers," and therefore, we do not have a clergy-laity hierarchy. Instead, we are led by elders recognized for their spiritual maturity and devotion.

• Dedication to the Word: Like Ezra, our heart is devoted to studying, practicing, teaching, and proclaiming the Word of God. We maintain various ministries, including Bible schools, mission agencies, and gospel broadcasting, to share the truth.
